Ukrajinski narodni vezoviFor hundreds of years, Ukrainian women devoted their long winter nights to weaving and embroidering. They enjoyed creating complicated bead designs and transferring them onto the clothing they made. Skirts and shirts, handkerchiefs, and tobacco pouches were embroidered with detailed patterns and worn on special occasions. Some crafters still produce wonderful embroidery which is sold to the many tourists visiting the land of soccer star Andriy Shevchenko and aviator and, renowned aircraft designer, Igor Sikorsky. |
